Grand River
Grandville, MI
Take: Smallmouth (30)

Fished the picnic area at hopewell mounds this morning. The water is about back to normal flows now, with the level dropping nearly four feet from when we there a week ago. The drainage channel is absolutely filled with minnows which led me to believe something larger would have to feed there at some point. After an hour of patient fishing a smallmouth rolled up into the channel abnd started snipe feeding on the minnows. He also took an interest in my baby bass matzuo and I was able to land him at 11″. Unfortunately, he seemed to be the only one in the area.

Grand River

After dinner, headed out to ada. The point is accessible again now that the water has receded, however, there is a massive tree that fell at the end of the point which while the water remains high is making the area inaccessible to fishing. Had to settle for fishing the backwater. Dad caught a rock bass, but I couldn’t stir anything up.

Grand River
Ada, MI
Take: Rock Bass (3,4)

Fished the point at the public access this afternoon. Apparently sometime between 2pm and 5pm the shade moves over this area and drives the fish out, the smallies were not here today. Fishing the main current from the point with a RedCraw crank brought in a Rock Bass (10″).

Moved down river to Hazy Cloud Park. Fished the south end of the park with a blue/yellow stinger and caught another rock bass (7″). Moved downstream and promptly lost said lure.

Worked: Red Craw Blaze, Blue/Yellow Stinger (1/2oz.)
Didn’t Work: Black/Gold Husky Jerk (#13), Black/White Matzuo, Yellow/Gold Cobra
