Winter is coming, which means a lot of time spent indoors watching TV. With that in mind I finally broke down and purchased an HDTV last week from woot. Nothing outrageous, just a 32″ lcd, 720P flat panel. Something simple and yet far nicer than what I have now. At some point I guess I realized that having a $20 TV and a $300 stereo was a little on the rediculous side, even for an audiophile such as my self. Since I broke down and purchased said TV, I figured I should upgrade to a video game system that takes advantage of the HDTV. I listed the dreamcast and gamecube on craigslist, traded in my ps2 and all my gear and purchased a 360. Quite a big leap from where I was.
The first thing I did after finally buying a 360 was run straight out and buy The Orange Box so I could finally play Portal. Jesus Christ, that really is one of the best short games I have ever played. Absolutely outstanding. Of course, it only lasted a few hours so I had to move on to TF2. I used to play a lot of Team Fortress back in high school, so I had to see if the new one did it any justice. Quite the game, lot of fun. To be honest, the entirety of The Orange Box was impressive, but TF2 really takes the cake for me. Of course, someone should probably tell some of the players of TF2 on xbox live that these are not real achievements.
Mike Singletary is officially my new favorite head coach in the NFL. First Presser, first blowup. Awesome.
Game 6 is finally back underway and the Phils have already jumped back in front. I think it’s going to be over tonight, but it isn’t going to be easy. I’m thinking this will probably go to the 11th or 12th before it’s said and done tonight. The streets will burn in Philly tonight. By the way, if you like that shirt, you can buy it here.
